Some of the first skills you will need as an Arborist are the safe and efficient use of a chainsaw.

This course will give you experience in chainsaw use.

Chainsaw use is a key skill that will help you find work as a 'Groundie" or grounds person in an arboriculture company.

Participants will be able to apply knowledge of tree mechanical and physiological processes, environmental influences, deficiency symptoms and general growth and production cycle manipulation in the planting, cultivation, care and assessment of trees.

This unit standard is for people working, or intending to work, in amenity horticulture. People credited with this unit standard are able to: identify and explain the physical characteristics of trees, shrubs, and climbers; identify, label, and present a range of amenity trees, shrubs, and climbers; and identify, either in situ or ex situ, a range of thirty common amenity trees, shrubs, and climbers, excluding previously collected or uniquely photographed specimens.
