Welcome to this short course on diabetes management and care. The course runs over 10 weeks from March 28 to May 9 and is run conjointly by Waikato Regional Diabetes Service and the Centre for Health and Social Practice (CHASP), Wintec.  The programme, informed by the National Diabetes Nursing Knowledge and Skills Framework (2009), and recognised by the international Diabetes Federation, provides the health professional with an increased blend of knowledge and skills required to competently and confidently plan care for a person with diabetes /cardiovascular disease, provide regular care to people at risk of, or those who experience, diabetes.

The health professional will develop critical thinking through the exploration of problem-based learning, evidenced-based theory, reflective and reflexive practice perspectives. This website is the resource platform where information about the course, assessments, and readings are posted. You are advised to visit it regularly as any changes will be posted on this site.
