    • Haere mai  |  Welcome to the SINO-NZ Model Programme:

      Train the Trainer

    • Opening message from Tony O’Brien, Sino-NZ Project Director

China is entering a new stage of economic development. The upgrading of its industrial and knowledge industries is accelerating. The demand for technical and skilled personnel in all walks of life is becoming more and more urgent, and the important position and role of vocational education is becoming more and more prominent.

Globally, it is vital that vocational institutions model what it means to be adaptable and flexible and to create and deliver a curriculum and a culture that ensures all students can absorb new knowledge and apply that knowledge in authentic settings. For success, learners must leave their chosen institution and enter the workforce with skills that enable them to be lifelong learners. Finally, the vocational education system needs to motivate students to become more innovative and entrepreneurial, so they can add value.

The Sino NZ Vocational Education and Training Model Programme has been running for over 5 years. It aims to upskill teachers on how to create and deliver engaging and industry-relevant courses. Participants will learn how to create student-centred, project-based learning; assess student competency and to be confident that their learning environment sets up their students to access and apply their knowledge and skills in real-world settings.

I wish you the best of luck in your training and to apply the skills and knowledge gained back in your institutions in China.

      Kind regards,
      Jessie Liu and Tony O’Brien
