Competency-Based Assessment

  • Unit standards are competency-based and are graded as either -  Complete | Incomplete
  • All competency-based assessments must be passed to achieve this module.

Online participation:

  1. Engage in at least 8 forum discussions with included activities.
  2. Engage in at least one live Zoom video conference.

Assignment due dates:

Assignments must be submitted by the time stated on the due date. Late assignments will incur a 10% reduction on the achieved result for each working day the assignment is overdue. If you cannot meet the deadline you must fill out an extension form with a valid reason (the form will be made available) and give this to the tutor prior to the due date. Poor time management will not be considered a valid reason.

Attendance:

To ensure success you should attend/contribute to all classes (includes online). If you miss a class it is your responsibility to catch up on the material you have missed from classmates. Lecture notes and additional material is on Moodle. If you must be late to a class please be considerate to other students by entering as quietly as possible.

Students must attend all sessions involving in-class assessments or tests. If you are ill or have another valid reason for missing an assessment or test you must contact the tutor concerned prior to or within 24 hours of the in-class assessment or test. Then you must provide suitable evidence as to a reason for your absence at the earliest possible time (the next time you are at Wintec). Examples of suitable evidence include a medical certificate, funeral notice or service booklet, etc.

Plagiarism:

Any course work presented for assessment must be your own work. Copying or paraphrasing someone else’s work be it published, unpublished or off the internet, without clearly acknowledging it constitutes plagiarism and is considered to be academic misconduct. You are required to sign an assignment declaration stating it is your own work. You may receive a zero for part or all of the assessment submitted in the first instance. Repeated incidents of plagiarism or cheating could result in you being removed from the course or the programme.
