Any item in Moodle can have Activity Completion, including labels, pages, URLs, quizzes, forums, assessment drop boxes, H5P etc.

To add Activity Completion to an item:

  1. Edit the Settings for the activity or resource
  2. Under Activity Completion select the desired option next to 'Completion Tracking'. This puts a tick box next to the item on the main page that gets ticked when the conditions you have just chosen are met.

Types of Conditions:

  • Students can manually mark the activity as completed
  • Moodle will mark the activity as complete when the student clicks the link.
    • E.g. Clicking on a PDF will tick the box regardless of how much they read it.
  • Moodle will mark the activity complete when they have satisfied specific conditions for completion - some of which differ dependent on the type of activity.
    • E.g. A discussion forum might be completed by the student making one discussion post and replying to three others.
    • A quiz might be marked complete only if the student gets a pass mark.
    • An assignment might be marked complete when the student submits their file - even before they get a grade.
